Accounts in Arrears and Disconnection Policy

TRL Gas Co-op Ltd. is committed to providing reliable service to all members. To ensure fair and consistent service, the following policy applies to overdue accounts:

Accounts in Arrears

Accounts that are 70 days overdue with an outstanding balance of $200.00 or more are subject to a $100 hand-delivered disconnection notice fee.

Disconnection Notice

If your account is not brought into good standing within the timelines stated on the disconnection notice, TRL Gas Co-op Ltd. will proceed with removing your gas meter. Once your meter is removed, your account must be paid in full, along with both a security deposit fee and a reconnection fee to have your meter reinstalled.

Registered Letter Notice

Once your gas meter is removed and the arrears remain unpaid, TRL Gas Co-op Ltd. will issue a registered letter to the account holder. This letter will provide the option to:

  • Maintain gas service (by meeting minimum payment requirements), or
  • Have the gas service removed

Customer Response Timeline

Customers have 14 days from the date of the registered letter to respond. If there is no response received within the 14 days’ timeframe, your gas service will be subject to complete removal after 60 days.

Future Service after Removal

Once gas service is removed, any future gas service request will be charged at the current infill rate in effect at the time of the request.
